Johnnie Merendino was born October 23, 1929 in Dallas, Texas to Jerome L and Rose Merendino. Went to be with his Heavenly Father on August 7, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome L Merendino and Rose Merendino, His brother, Jerome B Merendino. married the love of his life on March 17,1957 and rode away on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Merendino, two sons Billy John, Jerome and his wife Kara, three grand dogs Spike, Paris, and Lola. Johnnie graduated from Crocier Tech in 1949. He served in the Korean War as a Corporal in the US Army. In 1950 he and his brother opened a Mobil Gas Station on Oakland Avenue. In 1987 when his brother passed away Johnnie ran the business With his oldest son Billy John until it closed in October 27, 2016. He was an active member of the Dallas Elks Lodge #71. Johnnie and Mary were Members of the Mustang Motorcycle Club. Family will receive friends from 6p-8p, Sunday, August 13 at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home, Dallas, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30pm, Monday, August 14 at St Edward Catholic Church, 4001 Elm St, Dallas, TX. Burial will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Dallas, TX. Memorials may be made to Holding Hands Hospice or St Edward Catholic Church, or CitySquare. Pallbearers will be Bob Finch, James Olson, Michael Gibbs, Justin Quinn, Manny Strand, James Asbury. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tony Kickerrillo, Larry James, Dodie Pratz, Gene Barton. Arrangements under the direction of Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home, Dallas, TX.
