David H. Van Nortwick
March 30, 1938 – January 20, 2021

David H. Van Nortwick was born March 30, 1938 in Harrisonburg, Virginia to Ralph H. & Lucile E. Van Nortwick. He peacefully ended his long journey with Alzheimer's disease at home on January 20, 2021, surrounded by family and his cat, Siman. He awoke in heaven with his Savior and Lord, rejoicing and fully alive.

David grew up in Fort Worth, Texas where his father prepared for the ministry at Arlington Baptist College (formerly Bible Baptist Seminary). Later the family moved to Fairfield, Ohio, where he founded and pastored the Lindenwald Baptist Church until he retired.

David met his wife Donna at the church and they were married there on September 13, 1958 with David's dad officiating. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in 2020.

Throughout his life, David played a variety of musical instruments…Hawaiian electric guitar, accordion, piano, organ and keyboard. The grandchildren were fascinated by his whistling. He was known for his love of animals. Cats were his favorite, but squirrels, guinea pigs, hamsters and many others were also loved.

In 1970 to 1980 David and Donna and their two daughters, Janet and Julie, served as missionaries in Papua New Guinea with Wycliffe Bible Translators. During the first term, David maintained radio contact with translators living in the villages. Then during the second term he was given the challenge of learning how to repair the fabulous new selective typewriters. He took the manual and mastered it. He was well known for being able to fix almost anything.

When they returned to the States, they settled in Garland, Texas and became involved in local churches. David and Donna are current members of the First Baptist Church Garland and the Barnabas Sunday School Class.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; two daughters, Janet Hudson & husband David of Kokomo, IN; Julie Wilcox and husband David of Wylie, TX; 5 grandchildren; Dr. Timothy Wilcox; Anna (Wilcox) Stanley; Matthew Wilcox; Jon Hudson and Michael Wilcox; a brother, Paul Van Nortwick & wife Penny; and a sister Beth Van Nortwick & husband Dan and numerous other nephews and nieces.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, infant twin daughters, Deanna and Dianna and grandaughter, Rachel Wilcox.

For death is swallowed up in victory!
But just think of stepping on shore-and finding it Heaven.

Of touching a hand-and finding it God's!
Of breathing new air and finding it celestial!
Of waking up in glory-and finding it home!
