I was so sorry to here of the passing of my friend Lloyd. He was a humble and awesome friend that will be missed by all that knew him. I met Lloyd in 1976, my freshman year in college. He helped me with a college assignment that inspired me to write a book about my family. We have remained friends for 40 plus years. He was a man that possessed so much knowledge and enjoyed assisting others. I shall never forget my friend Lloyd Bockstruck. May God be with you until me meet again. Rest in Peace!!

It has been a true honor and pleasure to know Lloyd as a teacher, guide, and friend. Our conversations ranged wide and were not always about genealogy. But when they turned back to that subject, it was with that famous enthusiasm and love for family history he shared with us all. Lloyd, thank you for all you taught me- I will miss you.

I knew Lloyd as a member of my high school graduation class of 1963 in Vandalia, IL. I recently chatted with him by phone and learned of his extensive travels all over the world. We share that interest and talked of our many journeys. I am very saddened to hear of his passing. RIP Lloyd!

Lloyd was a titan in the field of Genealogy, whose influence and guidance touched legions. His legacy is preserved in the countless students of his lectures and patrons of the Dallas Public Library's Genealogy section, in perpetuity. He left us much too soon.

Lloyd was an inspiration to me to go to library school and pursue genealogy. I won't forget him or what he did for the Dallas Public Library Genealogy Section.
